‘’I do the accounts for small businesses including sole traders, self-employed, partnerships, limited companies, individuals who need to fill in self-assessment, and non-for-profit, wide mix, so that’s fab.

There are several important factors to consider when choosing the right accounting software. I’ve been exposed to about a dozen different systems, Capium is by far one of the most straightforward, you switch it on and it’s good to go. It’s the ease of use, the clarity of everything and the help function, not to mention the price – it’s fantastic, it’s a brilliant package.

The help function makes a massive difference you haven’t just got the videos and the written help online, Capium has got such a proactive and responsive support team, that difference is making people want to move across to Capium, and it’s making me want to go anywhere else because I’m not having the issue with Capium that I’ve had with several other IT support teams.’’

Transforming work processes in the cloud with Capium 

‘’I’m big on reducing waste, and since using Capium I am not paper reliant, rather online reliant. Plus I only have to enter data once. That’s got to be the biggest change for me – so if I run payroll, that feeds through to bookkeeping which then feeds through to self-assessment or accounts production which also feeds through to the corporate tax where it’s needed.

The other change is the comparative reports, those are the most valuable reports that the system can offer, whereas before with a lot of other systems I would have to do those things manually. I don’t have to rely on an excel file crashing or formula not quite picking up every cell. I can literally press a button and it’s there, I can look at monthly, quarterly, annual comparisons, they are spot on. 

Capium has freed up my time so that I’m still a sole trader, I haven’t had to look at bringing people on board with me at this stage, and I’m managing a number of clients. ‘’

Overcoming the Covid challenge with Capium 

‘’Once the pandemic hit, there were no restrictions to my work processes – I could just keep on going. That in itself gave my clients massive comfort because it meant that I could claim what they needed, and I could look at what they needed. Now all my clients are uploading their receipts online which is great. So people who weren’t tech-savvy before are becoming even more tech-savvy – and now they have seen how good it can be for them. ‘’

Future-proofing your practice for today and tomorrow

‘’Capium makes me feel secure without me having to do too much, I know my client’s documents are protected. There’s an option to auto-generate a secure password or create one myself and I’m able to send my client’s the password separately, that’s the big thing. They are doing what we as accountants need them to do – we need them to keep on top of it and develop the software, and with HMRC’s stamp of approval, so they look after all the backend security and they show us how it works on the front end which is spot on.’’
